NYONIE GABON

The Government of Gabon contacted LHDI and TLDI to discuss a means of creating a Destination Development for Beautiful West Africa. After an initial site visit, over a period of just 3 months, a breathtaking west facing coastal  site was selected, a development program created,  full architectural and master planning design concepts produced, and the decision made to proceed into project schematics and soon after, construction documents. TLDI were retained as project developers for Nyonie’ by the Government of Gabon going forward, and lead the efforts which included full design of property infrastructure, engineering design and all development services. LHDI was retained to produce master planning and architectural design, including coordination of all Interiors and Landscape.

The project was named Nyonie’, and was envisioned to firmly put Gabon on the map as Africa’s foremost new touristic venue.

Ultimately, Nyonie’ will encompass a total of 7 km x 35 km of developed resort land along the west coastline of Gabon and will become a full destination and brand on its own. The total project build-out has been carefully programmed to include a mix of multiple Resort and Business Hotels, Luxury Residences, Golf, A Marina, Convention Facilities, as well as an extensive Service component. The first phase of project was designed with a distinctive architectural character using an exposed curving structure of Gabonese exotic hardwoods wrapped with other woods and natural stone; carefully studied to merge naturally with the West African jungles and plains. All radiating from a central facilities building ‘hub’, the resort amenities are connected by a meandering series of pathways sited to create a sequence of surprises and vistas for the international guest.

Nyonie’ is ideally located just a 45 minute water taxi ride from Gabon’s principal city, Libreville, and will also have its own international airport.
